The Whitmores brew up a UK Millionaire Raffle win

Descriptor: First we see various shots of Frank and Judy Whitmore being photographed, where Frank sprays champagne from a bottle. We then see them both at the press conference.

Judy Whitmore: Well I bought the ticket last Thursday, on my way home from work. I always buy a lottery ticket for a Saturday. And when I went into the local shop, I said to the girl, “Oh, I’ll have a EuroMillions, seen as they’re going to make twenty-five millionaires, I might be one of them.” Saturday lunchtime, said to my husband, “Oh, better check my EuroMillions.” I didn’t have a number, I said, “Oh, we haven’t got a number.” And, ah, I said, “Oh, I’ll just get the laptop out and check the, um, lucky, you know, the, em, raffle.” He said, “You won’t win.”  And I read, I said, “You read the numbers out,” and he started reading them out, and I said, well I won’t tell you what I said, because you couldn’t print it! [She laughs.]

Frank Whitmore: You couldn’t put it in your papers.

Descriptor: We now see shots of Frank and Judy Whitmore holding a large National Lottery cheque, covered by an umbrella, as they have their photos taken. The cheque shows that they have won one million pounds. Once again, we see them at the press conference.

Judy Whitmore: What do we do with this ticket?  And Frank said, “We’ll put it in the teapot.”

Press: Why the teapot?

Frank Whitmore: Because anything sacred, that was our little hiding place.

Judy Whitmore: It went in the teapot, money or anything went in the teapot.

Frank Whitmore: And nobody ever thought of looking in this old teapot.

Descriptor: We now see Frank and Judy Whitmore being photographed outside, with Frank holding a National Lottery glass filled with champagne, and Judy holding the teapot where they hid their winning ticket. We then see them at the press conference for the final time.

Judy Whitmore: It’s just unbelievable, it just doesn’t sink in at all really. It’s just...

Frank Whitmore: It’s a numbing feeling that you don’t believe it.
