We join Welsh songstress Katherine Jenkins backstage at Lottery HQ to talk about pre-show preparation.
Descriptor: First we see a black and white image of Katherine Jenkins that changes to colour. She is wearing a green dress and is stood in a dressing room. A man just in front of her is clapping his hands in front of her, to mark the start of a shot. A graphic caption which reads, “Katherine Jenkins” appears next to her. She speaks to camera. The image alternates between colour and black and white.
Katherine Jenkins: Hi, I’m Katherine Jenkins, backstage at Lottery HQ.
Descriptor: We now see Katherine through a graphic caption which reads, “Katherine Jenkins Backstage: What is your lucky number and why?” before seeing Katherine talking to camera. The image alternates between colour and black and white.
Katherine Jenkins: My lucky number is 27. I don’t know why it’s lucky for me and er, em, I think when I was a young girl I went to an audition, I was number 27 and, and I got, that’s my, was my first audition and I, I was successful and kind of thought, “there we go”. And also it’s my dad’s lucky number so we share that.
Descriptor: Again, we see Katherine through a graphic caption which reads, “Katherine Jenkins Backstage: What is the luckiest thing that’s happened to you?” before seeing Katherine talking to camera. The image alternates between colour and black and white.
Katherine Jenkins: The luckiest thing ever to happen to me probably was getting my record contract. Em, I was a teacher at the time, I had, em, made a demo with a friend of mine and, by luck it got passed to a record company who wanted to sign a soprano, and I went in to sing with them and they offered me a six-album deal.
Descriptor: Once again, we see Katherine through a graphic caption which reads, “Katherine Jenkins Backstage: Do you have any pre-stage rituals?” before seeing Katherine talking to camera. The image alternates between colour and black and white.
Katherine Jenkins: I am quite superstitious before I go on stage. Em, there’s certain things I have to do, which are just really silly like it has to be my right shoe before my left. Em, if I’ve got the, the option of different bathrooms, I’ve got to use the same one every time. I think as a performer you need to do those things to make yourself feel quite calm before you go on stage.
Descriptor: For the final time, we see Katherine Jenkins through a graphic caption which reads, “Katherine Jenkins Backstage: Do you have any lucky charms?” before seeing Katherine talking for the last time. The image alternates between colour and black and white.
Katherine Jenkins: I have a necklace, with an angel wing on it that my, one of my best friends Polly gave me. And I do wear that actually when I kind of feel like I need a bit of extra luck.
