Imelda May: From now, I do love Seasick Steve, I think he’s amazing, and I think the Arctic Monkeys are an amazing, amazing band, absolutely fantastic band. Em, but mostly, the music I listen to is, like, pre-1960 (laughs).

Imelda May: I do love going there, em, the people are great, the food is great, I love the diners. But I would like to be closer to my family, I don’t think I could ever move that far away from my family.

Imelda May: No, I don’t have any rituals before I go on stage. Ooh, em, I warm up, em, I quickly do my hair and my makeup, which takes me about twenty minutes, because I, I never have enough time, em, and I normally paint my nails, just one—I don’t think they’re rituals, that’s just getting ready. I have a little nip of port, for medicinal purposes (smiles).

Imelda May: The luckiest thing that’s ever happened to me? I don’t know if it’s luck, I’m, but I’m a big believer in hard work, and a little sprinkling of luck, but you have to have a little sprinkling of luck. Em, I did win, ah, a cooked pig once, and I’m a vegetarian, so (laughs) that wasn’t very lucky.
