Dancer and choreographer Ashley Banjo tells us about the luckiest members of Diversity and shows us a few moves of his own!
Descriptor: First we see several shots of Ashley Banjo with the dance troupe Diversity performing a dance routine on stage. A caption on-screen reads, "Diversity's Ashley Banjo". We then see a graphical caption, which reads, "Ashley Banjo Backstage: Do you have any pre-stage rituals?" We then see Ashley in a studio, talking to the camera. A Christmas tree is visible in the background.
Ashley: I do have many rituals to bring me luck, before I go on stage. Em, the main two being, listening to the end of whatever show I'm performing, em, and number two being a big drum roll, a big fist bump with all the guys. [He rolls his fists over each other.]
Descriptor: We again see a graphical caption, which reads, "Ashley Banjo Backstage: What is the luckiest thing that's happened to you?" We then see Ashley in the studio, talking to camera.
Ashley: The luckiest thing that's ever happened to me, em, is being given the opportunity I suppose, to find ten guys around me that love to do what I do, em, given somewhere to practice and the platform to show it I suppose, so just, opportunities.
Descriptor: Once again we see a graphical caption which reads, "Ashley Banjo Backstage: Who is the luckiest member of Diversity?" We then return to Ashley talking to camera.
Ashley: The luckiest member of Diversity, I would have to say is one of the McNaughton brothers. [Images of two of the McNaughton brothers appear in the corner of the screen.] Because touch wood [he touches his head], in all the years we've been doing it, I think, Ian and, em, Jamie and Matt have never had an injury.
Descriptor: For the final time, we see a graphical caption which reads, "Ashley Banjo Backstage: What is tutting?" We then return to Ashley talking to camera for the final time.
Ashley: Tutting is just a dance that's centred around angles, levels and all different bits and pieces of optical illusion like that. Em, so some simple tuts would be... [He begins to move his arms.] Like this, and I'd move my arm like this, and I'd go... [He performs a complicated dance with his arms, finishing with a smiling pose.] ...Tutting!
