These shots include the venue itself, a BBC East Midlands van, the reception, National Lottery balloons, a prize cheque for £40,627,241 and gathered news crew with camera equipment. Winning couple Catherine and Gareth Bull then enter the press conference room with photographers taking photos. Catherine and Gareth both hold their winning cheque. Next we see shots of Catherine and Gareth being interviewed by the press conference host.
Gareth Bull: It were where I were working, it were raining and we couldn’t really start building because it were, it were, you know, it were too wet. So I decided to go to the shop, kill a bit of time, nearest shop, pulled up outside shop, run in, pound, two pound on, out, and that were it! [Laughs]
Descriptor: We now see two National Lottery crossed fingers champagne glasses close up, with a bottle of champagne in the background. This is followed by Catherine and Gareth walking hand in hand outside. We then return to the press conference itself.
Gareth Bull: I checked on the TV, on the Teletext and I seen two Lucky Stars, I knew we’d got, so I looked round, total of numbers, I thought ‘we’ve got one or two here’, and then I couldn’t take it anymore, I had to run in to fetch Cath.
Descriptor: We now see the winning couple spraying a bottle of champagne, before once again seeing the winning couple talking in the conference.
Catherine Bull: Erm, yeah, he came into me and his face was, just white, and he was shaking [makes shaking motion with hands], it was not a, you know, it weren’t a usual face was it? And I knew it was serious.
Descriptor: We now see a close up of Gareth outside shaking the champagne bottle. Catherine is laughing. We then return to the press conference.
Catherine Bull: And he says ‘I need to tell you, we’ve won a raffle!’ [Laughter from the audience], and I was like ‘what?’, and then me mum said ‘do you mean the lottery?, and then me mum pipes up, God bless her…
Gareth Bull: And then it all sort of clicked in.
Catherine Bull: Yeah, ‘you don’t mean…?’
Gareth Bull: ‘What, big one from Friday’?
Catherine Bull: ‘You don’t mean that big one from Friday?!’ Yes mother. ‘Waaah!’, she just cried and screamed, and stood up and sat down and, ‘you’re joking! You’re joking!’
Descriptor: We’re back outside where Catherine and Gareth are presenting their cheque to the press, before once again returning to the press conference.
Gareth Bull: Er, I’d like to get a box at Old Trafford. I used to have a season ticket, but, I couldn’t afford it anymore, so, that’ll be nice! Get back in mix again.
Descriptor: Gareth and Catherine are outside. Gareth is holding a Manchester United shirt with ‘40 MILLION’ printed on the back. We now return to the press conference.
Catherine Bull: Err, I did say a carpet for me landing because it’s terrible. Nobody’s allowed upstairs because it’s that bad, so, it bothers me, I get to the top of the stairs everyday and, I like, ‘I hate that carpet!’ [laughs].
Descriptor: We see more shots of Catherine and Gareth celebrating outside, before returning to the press conference.
Catherine Bull: I don’t know, it's it’s a wave of emotions isn’t it.
Gareth Bull: Yeah.
Catherine Bull: …I still don’t think that we’ve, we actually believe that we’ve actually won this, and even though we’re saying to people, ‘oh yeah, we’ve won the lottery… actually, have we really? Is that ticket real?’
Gareth Bull: Yeah.
Catherine Bull: Yeah. It’ll hit home.
Descriptor: Finally, we see a close up of the winning cheque.
